If you have a blog, you are pitching. How often have you heard that (even at conferences)? It is a very true statement. When you put up a website, you are most likely not hording it all to your lonesome. You are telling people about it.
Some of you might not understand this and be saying – ‘I have a personal site, so how can I be selling.’
You are selling your words.
Every time you share that blog post out on Twitter, Facebook, and all the social network sites out there, you are basically advertising- ‘Here is my post. Please come read it.’
There is no shame in that, but make sure your pitch is a clear one. If it takes a long novel to describe what your site is about, people will not be interested. Keep your pitch simple and between 3 to 20 words. This pitch is something you can use at your site’s description so when Google picks up your site, that will include exactly what you want people to know about your site.
For example- I use: “Helping You Rock Out Your Site Like A Rockstar” for Blondish.net
You will know I help people with their websites and that I hope to make sure their websites turn out awesome.
Try your pitch here. Tell me it and how you came up with it? If you do not have a definite one, do you need help?

As the title of my blog indicates, Internet Marketing Remarks, was originally intended as a vanity site where I could post my musings about Internet marketing. However, as I started investing more time on the site, it dawned on me that I would actually like to have my content read by visitors. If I want more visitors, I need to do a better job of providing tips and advice readers can use. As I have discovered, other than my Mother, there really isn't that big an audience for my random musings. I think I stumbled across a question that every blog editor must ask, "what will a visitor learn from my blog, and is it worth the investment of their time"

It is funny because 6 years ago, the blog community consisted a majority of personal websites. Back then I use to run a comment exchange group- one of 3 that existed at the time and it was hard to even get people to stick to the program they signed up for. It was the reason you pointed out- not everyone is going to be interested in your daily life and thoughts. Unfortunate, but true. There were only a few that were active, and still around today that do that in the Mommy blogging community- then, their site was not even a mommy blog yet…lol.

The title of our blog is Hire and Retain Top Talent – the focus of the content is on hiring and retaining top talent. The tagline reinforces the content "Put the Candidate in the Job Before You Hire Them". We've established a level of authority in the hire and retain space based on our blog, radio show, products, and best-selling book we wrote on the same subject.

I was surprised that since your domain name is ImpactHiringSolutions, it was not in your blog’s title or description. It works out great and in unison with your overall site. However, I have seen a lot of people not name the blog itself after the rest of the site. I see you also have several different blogs for your site too. Do you ever have problems maintaining all of them or does handling and updating each go pretty smoothly?

this is a comment that hold good for all your blog posts , i simply adore you taking up unconventional topics related to blogging and it, and nice one again about the pitch , people really have misguiding titles sometimes which makes it difficult to guess what they want to divert us through through the link! mostly disappointed…..

I can say that my pitch would be the following (I'm working on starting my own personal blog – about life matters): If it doesn't kill us, it makes us stronger. If you know how to be strong and survive – share with us. It will be a blog about strong people – in all ways.

I think to certain extent this is like that make something that is enough to get the visitors attention. By the way pitching for blog is not a bad idea. If properly done then result would definitely good.

Very good point Nile. It is important to “sell your words”. Very eye-opening post.
