Make Your Tweets Powerful Enough To Reach Your Followers

By Nile Flores 26 Comments

When I mean “powerful”, I mean how many people do you actually reach? How many of them would welcome a direct message from you that asks them to retweet your post and they actually do it without hesitation? Are you effectively influencing these bloggers? – Are they actually referencing you as a source of knowledge in your niche?

You can have a lot of followers, but even a large percentage will probably have one eye on their stream, and that depends on when they are online. So how can you make your tweets reach and influence enough followers?

Before you tweet…

twitterthumb…you need something to say. In the case you are wanting to actually sell something, you have to do the leg work. It may take gathering details information and making sure everything is in order. This is kind of a summary that is similar to many business models, but really, it is kind of like a trying to raise a kid properly. You would never send your kid out and let them be uncouth, disheveled in their dressing, and just flat out looking like he or she has been neglected, right?

As you tweet….

This is where you have to take that step back and let that kid you have been raising out into the cruel world. However, in the same breath, be ready to accept your kid back and improve before re-releasing. You will need to make sure your kid has a nice name (a good title) that will bring people to see what you are trying to get them to either buy or just read. Do no be afraid of negative feed back. Use it to your advantage. Twitter can be the quickest way to get the feedback you need to make vital changes to your blog or even a product you might be selling.

As your tweet is seen…

Your tweet may not be seen by whom you want it to be seen. You may need to re-tweet it on occasion. Do this tastefully and without making it so obvious. People do understand that you are trying to reach others with your product that may be interested. However, you do not want to make it seem like spam.

And in between…

If you have to put some of your tweeting on an auto program, do so. This will allow you to go out and engage with people. It does not take long and you can even pace yourself. Tweeting for 5 minutes here and then 5 minutes later might be great, and you can get around things better. Some of you might have more time and that is cool, but please remember that some of your followers are going to see just about everything you tweet, so try not to be overwhelming.

You will be able to see the improvement through your own stats on your site. You might even see more quality followers too!

How are you going about reaching your followers?

    Hi Nile,

I am always looking for that happy balance between not twittering enough and twitting too much. This is a great tutorial on how to twit. There is a lot of information on how to build a website and stuff but very few really good lessons on how to twit sucessfully. This awesome.

that’s great.. I have been surfing online greater than 3 hours these days, but I never found any fascinating article like yours. It’s beautiful value sufficient for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the net will be much more helpful than ever before.

Nice article Nile. This is the first post i read on your blog.
One should never only tweet his website links only, they should be in limit. Understand your followers, then post tweets of their interest which will help to get ReTweets and reach more people.

I wouldn’t do it! I would feel like I was barging thru the front door of somebody’s house instead of ringing the bell.

If you are on Twitter, you are out there to engage, right? Twitter is not a house and your tweets are public….comparing to Twitter to being someones own house, no offense, is ridiculous. If you have similar interests with someone else, then you could engage with others. It is not barging in unless you flat out just spam them off the bat.

When I first started a Twitter account, I was completely lost as to how tweets, retweets, favoriting and responding worked. This is a great way to break it down and then also show you how to make your Twitter one that people want to follow.

Hi Syed! Just sending out your articles to your followers are not enough and you are not taking advantage of engaging in conversation with others. You can push your content all you want to Twitter, but that does not mean someone will click. If you engage with people, your followers may give your article a look, and even share it too.

Some good points there. One must also target the specific audience while tweeting. And in my experience using HashTags makes a lot difference in the Authority of the tweet.

Nice article Nile. Another way to reach a specific group of people(not only your followes) would be to use websites such as justretweet to get your content shared to more and more people. For most of my new websites twitter is one of the main source of traffic at the beginning.

Twitter has not been a success for me. After making some efforts to gain followers, I have realized that only famous people have the power to have thousands of followers without effort. When you have such good numbers, everything you say is noticed. When your followers are few, you are preaching to the choir.

I found that the best way to get my tweets seen is timing. I usually do most of my tweets morning and evening and weekends.

If joining twitter, you should develop a marketing plan that is complete with strategies and goals for your company. You should include details on how you will present your company and the offers that you provide. Good tactics should be employed that showcase your company in a positive light with a subtle approach.

If you are too aggressive, you will create negativity and the results will not be what you had planned or desired.

I have a real hard time with Twitter because I am a very loquacious person and 140 characters is not usually enough for me to give someone what I feel is a proper response. These tips will help and hopefully it will be a skill that I get better at as I continue to blog.

    Hey Nile,
I’m not really an avid fan of Twitter and I rarely check in with it. You may say “shame on me” by now but that’s the truth. But even so, I still want to learn a few things about Twitter and how to effectively tweet something. Whether it’s personal tweet or promotional one, I want to learn that is why I want to thank you for posting this. It can really help me a lot and I’ve learn a lot on how to effectively use my Twitter as well as how to effectively tweet.

I do have a couple of posts a day on autopilot, but it’s the in between time that needs work. I need to interact more with people, and do more different kinds of tweets, and retweet others’ tweets.
