If you’re not building a list, you’re pretty much bleeding out potential return traffic. However, if you do, you’ve probably struggled on getting more subscribers to your blog. It’s a common struggle for most bloggers, as we all aren’t marketing geniuses. Often, we’re flying by the seat of out pants, in learning what it takes to create, maintain, and promote our blogs.
Here’s just a few key tips that will hopefully help you with getting more subscribers to your blog.
4 Tips to Getting More Subscribers to Your Blog
1 Location! Location! Location!
Where you place your subscribe form or optin form is important. Don’t just leave it in one place. Now, this isn’t to encourage you to blast your optin forms all over, but to have some present. Some popular places for bloggers to their optin, is the sidebar, after the post, somewhere on the front page (if the page is not set up blog archive style), popup optin, and even as small as a checkbox with your comment form or contact form.
Please do note that if your audience reaches globally, including Europe, you need to make sure those optins are GDPR compliant.
2 Look at your offer and ask yourself if it really is worth subscribing to a newsletter for.
People aren’t going to subscribe for just anything. They are looking for things that will help them, like guides or checklists or free graphics. For example, I’m a mom, and if I go to a coupon saving blog, what would entice me to subscribe is something like a Beginner’s guide to extreme couponing. This helps me up my game when I shop. The guide itself doesn’t even have to be elaborate. It’s fine if it covers some of the important basics. But that’s just one example.
For my site, I’ve offered the freebie on 10 Reasons your site isn’t converting and how to fix it. I put this together because when it comes to having a website, your goal is to get people to do something.
3 One offer isn’t enough. Make it count by offering just a little more than the initial offer that your subscribers get when they opt in.
Your readers aren’t always going to stay on your list. Some even just subscribe for your freebie offer, and then opt out. Don’t let them do a “wham, bam, thank you ma’am” move. Get them to stay by offering more. For example, a weekly tip might be really helpful. Even if it’s a short blurb, sometimes it can help your subscribers.
4 Your call to action can be powerful if you word and display it right.
The way that someone sees or reads the words on your optin offer, is important. In fact, if you don’t work on your words and opt-in form design, your visitors are probably overlooking it. Some people think blending in their optins to match their website, is cute and works, but it doesn’t always. In fact, it becomes like background noise, and your readers will ignore it in favor of reading your content, and then going away – again, a hit it and quit it kind of deal that you don’t want.
Need help? I’ve embedded one of my past presentations on Calls to Action. Hope this helps up your game.
These are only a few tips, but they are extremely important in getting more subscribers to your blog. If you’ve had success getting more subscribers to your blog, what tips do you have?

Wow, this is such a to-the-point and a great blog. You give all the essential details, especially about providing even more value than just 1 freebie or offer. It’s true that whatever you offer, has to be of extremely high value in exchange for the visitor’s email. Great read!
