WordPress Video: Adding A Featured Thumbnail In WordPress

By Nile Flores 13 Comments

I have put together a WordPress screencast video on adding a featured thumbnail in WordPress. A thumbnail is usually a small image that represents something like a larger image, or even a small image related to an article.

WordPress is pretty cool to have the ability for featured thumbnails built into the core. However, it is necessary to note that in order to use this feature, it must be built into the WordPress theme being used. If it is not, then this feature will not appear.

This screencast is based on the scenario that the WordPress theme has featured thumbnails built into it.

    Hi Nile,

Thanks for the tutorial on “featured image” on WordPress. I found out the hard way, when I made a mistake of my image and it took me a half hour to figure this out.

I am glad you gave this tutorial because it will save time for those who ran into trouble like me!

Also, I didn’t know I can change the image size. Now I can use some of my images and change sizes right on my WordPress.

    Thanks!
    Donna

Thanks for sharing this tutorial. This is really useful as for now I am customizing twenty ten WP themes and not able to show the thumbnails. For now the website is pretty cool enough.
