The long awaited WordPress version 3.6 is available. Originally this version had been set for unveiling in late May, just in time for the 10th year anniversary of WordPress.
Some of the additions for this version were taken back to the drawing board or nixed, and so we had to wait.
WordPress Version 3.6 is Now Available
WordPress 3.6 is known as Oscar after the jazz pianist named Oscar Peterson. Just in case you didn’t know, each WordPress version has been named after a jazz musician. This version came with some cool features for mobile usage including a new theme called Twenty Thirteen and a built-in HTML5 media player.

The HTML5 media player allows for video or audio embedding without you having to use a third party service. Hmm… looks like you won’t have to use a plugin or install some outside scripts to help self-host your own videos. Pretty cool, huh? 🙂
One of the most noticeable changes to the user interface of the WordPress backend are definitely the menus areas for users to be able to control their front end navigation (under Appearance> Menus.)
The revisions are another area that has been revamped to be a little more streamlined. especially to compare older to newer revisions.
There are many more changes that you can view for WordPress 3.6 in the Codex. Please don’t forget to update your site when you can.
When you have upgraded to WordPress 3.6, don’t forget to take a look around to get comfortable with some of the new areas. And also, let me know your thoughts on the new version of WordPress.

Thanks for the update. I specifically liked the revamped revision feature. It was really troublesome to compare and decide among the revisions and now, hope it will be more usable.

Oscar Peterson is the new name of WordPress New version 3.6 has be release today dated 1st, August 2013. It was released for developers but not for public. Today it is release for public. It has lot of features

Thanks for the update. I repeat feature of the revamped I very liked. Comparisons between the versions and to determine the most scenic and really windy, and I hope it will be more useful.
I have also updated my wordpress blog.there is minor difference ,but multimedia functionality is enhanced.Which is great!

I have just downloaded WP 3.6, the twenty thirteen theme is really nice to work with for new designs from a barebones perspective, the new menu editor is a lot better and the HTML5 player is pretty cool, its a welcome upgrade.

You will either need to decide to get a free WordPress.com site, or you will need to purchase your own web hosting, and domain, and then install WordPress.
