Announced on November 30, 2010, WordPress 3.0.2 became available.
This is a security update issue and a the summary can be found on the WordPress Codex page for the 3.0.2 release.
The update prevents outsiders from hacking further into the site from the author level in WordPress.
I am sure this will help tie up a few loose ends as a lot of people who have been hardcore CMS have been picking at WordPress to harden its security outside the normal telling people to keep their version up-to-date, adding htaccess or installing specific plugins.
It is thanks to those who have found this issue and to those who have provided a fix that keeps WordPress going. I have seen some pretty popular blog platforms and CMS fall through the cracks from security loop holes.
And just so you know, WordPress 3.1 is just around the corner. It is currently in beta, so if you like to test things out and have the time to, WordPress could certainly use your help.
