[Video] Why You’ve Got to be Cautious When Talking About Politics on Social Media

By Nile Flores 2 Comments

Politics is always a hot topic, and can become a heated one, so as a blogger or vlogger, or content creator, you may need to be cautious when talking about politics on social media.

I’ve put together a short video on why I don’t talk politics, and why. That’s my choice. However, when you choose to delve into controversial topics with politics, you can risk friends, and followers. If you’re building a brand, you could even hurt it. You will have to accept and face the replies, whether negative or positive.

Please note that this isn’t a message to not talk about politics on social media channels, but be cautious about it.

What are your thoughts? Do you talk about politics on your social media channels? What are your thoughts and tips for people trying to build a brand, blog, or company, but also are outspoken about their political stance?

I love this post! I’m reading a book that touches on what you mentioned about balancing. The author says that there’s a tipping point we should go for in life by being 51% positive. That’s what I shoot for in everything that I do. Some days are harder than others, but with practice, I’m learning to walk away from negativity and shift my focus.

Politics can be such a touchy subject. I love learning from different points of views; I don’t like seeing people attack others.

Politics and religion are always considered controversial topics that can lead to heated debates and end up in broken or altered friendships and relationships. I tend to keep my political views for myself, or if I do share them – I tend to express them in a non-offensive way.
