I was reading How To Breaks 100K Alexa Rank? on Another Blogger and found these to be a good start for people wanting to get their site rolling on Alexa.
I am going to reveal how you can have an Alexa rank better than 100,000. However, before I go into it, you do not always have to sign up for Alexa. It is nice to do and you can share a nice brag badge. I signed up, but my site was listed long before I even signed up. I do though recommend just in case so you can make sure your site ‘s information is accurate.
Now that I have said that, here is how you can build your site’s rank.
- Update frequently. I try to update once a day, sometimes even twice a day. Other days I may skip every so often.
- Return comments. CommentLuv is a great plugin to install and give you an idea through comments what your visitors are talking about. You never know when you might blog and give them credit for prompting you to continue the conversation on your own site.
- Encourage readers to subscribe to your newsletters and RSS feed.
- Promote your site on social networks and social bookmark sites.
- Make sure you strategically put the important parts of your site that you want people to view in a manner that catches their eye. It does not matter if it is half way down your page when scrolling… if it looks interesting, people will at least click.
- Focus on developing parts of your site that Alexa says people are searching for by keyword.
- Write great content! No one is interested in the same exact thing that maybe a couple hundred sites have said. Think outside the box and write a new angle that will deliver unique, interesting, and valuable information.
While you may think this is really easy, it is not. It does take work. While there are other ways people monitor their traffic and site’s progress, Alexa is indeed a great tool – and it is free too!
In the end, the point is to bring attention to your site, particularly what you want them to see first.

The Alexa info pages have a mass of information on what people are looking for and other info, I use it to work on what posts to write, also having a "popular posts" widget on a blog helps as these usually contain those words or phrases that Alexa says are been searched for, so combining everything does indeed help.
Congrats by the way for getting into that, better than 100,000 bracket, nice one ๐

Another tip is to add a lot of sites for a better alexa rank. I once had a site with thousands of pages but less traffic than a site with 10 pages. However, the site with less traffic had a better alexa rank.

you're right, I have a site that I have a few pages and Alexa traffic rank than my competitors, and wondering why, because Google are the worst in them

I am wondering if Alexa has any credibility. When I started my site my ranking over time got better but all of a sudden not only has it tailed off but has dived- and I'm am not doing anything differently. Stats analysis with Google Analytics and AWStats is very positive. What does Alexa bring to my party?

There is only so much Alexa can do. While you can blog every day or every other day, you have to promote, promote, promote. Conferences – word of mouth, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Make sure you have gotten listed properly in search engines and get listed in some great directories.
I like to rely more on Google Analytics and use Alexa as a brief look so I do not get so glued to looking at my stats. Believe me, I would if I had the time. Alexa does give you a brief direction on what people are looking for on your website. It is nice to be listed with them as well. The stats are just a little bonus.

I return Comments all the time but it seems like I scare them away when I do. because no one hardly ever comments on my site. How in the heck can I get more comments ? I request they leave leave comments but they just wont do it.

Thanks for writing such informative content. I really like your tips because they are simple and easy to understand. Quick question: Does your rank in Google improve because of your Alexa rank? Are they correlated together at all?

Great suggestions on Alexa ranking factors. I am trying to put my head around content as my page is of a static one, I imagine that Blogs get better ranks as compared to a simple static page. Still, I like your suggestions you put forth and will apply them. Good Day ๐

I’m also curious to know the answer to the question Deepak asked, about whether or not improving one’s Alexa rank had an impact on your Google rank…
If you can kill two birds with one stone, more power to you, right? ๐
Nile says
Google and Alexa are different in the fact that Google relies more heavily on keyword relevancy and density versus Alexa with traffic itself. So, really if you are writing unique and qaulity content, while also engaging (whether on your blog or social networks)… you are “killing two birds with one stone”

I agree with what you have mentioned above, I am on m 4 months of blogging and I can see the impact of my Alexa rank, my Alexa rank to start with was 12 million to start with, I went down to 1.5million up to this date. the secret is to update your blog daily, regardless if Alexa is important or not, the main point is for you measure how productive you are each day based on your improvement on Alexa rank day to day. It’s worth it the end.
My goal is to reach 100k or less Alexa rank in 35 days from now.
