Social Networking Communities For Bloggers

By Nile Flores 14 Comments

I get a lot of invites every day to join this and that concerning communities for bloggers. I appreciate it and often join, but have no time to always participate. However, because I do see a lot of rewards in these communities, I will share them.

BlogEngage – This is a community and social bookmarking site all in one. As far as I know, the community is by invite only, but if you join the forum and request an invite, you will probably get one. ๐Ÿ˜€ The community is quite active and everyone has been friendly.

BloggerLuv – This is a fairly active and newer community. The founder is dedicated to having a friendly site where bloggers can interact. Some of the largest social networking just are not as focused toward bloggers in general, especially those who truly want to not just share their content, but also talk with other bloggers.

Seems so few, right? Actually there are more, but these totally focus on bloggers. You can find great communities on social bookmarking sites like Digg. When Blogrity, the simple social bookmark site for bloggers comes out of beta, there will be more for bloggers to do. ๐Ÿ™‚

The great things about these communities are that there is a wealth of information always being shared, as well as eager people who actually want to connect. This is not like Twitter and Facebook where you might get people who might not be into the whole blogging concept. Beginner bloggers can learn a lot from those who have been in the community for a long time as well as share some of their newer ideals – a total win-win situation!

So this is where I come out and ask since you all may have some excellent suggestions: what are other great communities out there on the Internet that focus on allowing bloggers to connect?

BloggerLuv is pretty fun. I really enjoy it. They just started over since they redid their site with BuddyPress and WordPress MU. However, in my opinion, the site is doing great.

My five favorite blogging communities are:

    Blog Engage
    Bloggers.com
    Blog Catalog
    Blogger Den
    MMO Social Network

I'm most active on Blog Engage and Bloggers, I really love the interactions available on these two.

All of the mentioned sites are great, I use all of them but not bloggerluv. I haven't had the chance to look more into the site.

I use MMO, DesignGizer, BloggerDen, WPScoop, mostly. I have several design ones I use when I need to market some design work. But these are my favorites and I get the most out of these sites.

BloggerLuv has changed to use BuddyPress instead of the other platform they were using. Might be worth a second shot.

Bookmarked and stumbled – lists of resources are always valuable. Right now I'm just hopping around ComLuv blogs, but it isn't doing too much for me in terms of visibility.

Judging by the number of people who've said BlogEngage works, I'd better go give that a look.

Definitely these communities provide a lot of great resources. I have come to meet quite a few active bloggers too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Nile. I'm a member of Blog Engage, MMOSocialNetwork and BloggerLuv. They are great and I'm sure BloggerLuv will grow in the next few weeks. I have a few others but these 3 are my favorites. I use Digg sparingly but I never tried Blogrity. As you said, time limits prevent me from being active on too many of these. Thanks.

Right now, Blogrity is on the verge of coming out of Beta. So far it has been doing fine on submissions. The next step is re-design and finally building a module that bloggers can vote outside the site.

    Hi
I was wondering about the guy who mentioned spam emails, if you select to get updates then get them is that spam. I try MY BEST to 1 not make the site about me 2 to not do anything like have a bunch of dumb rules or requirements for membership 3 it's a work in progress as you know
The main reason I made this site is I have joined all the others and found them lacking the difference is the site is there for Bloggers benefit not mine. I'm just having fun learning new things and making new friends ๐Ÿ™‚
I don't base my success on BloggerLuv or trying to build it up to sell it
it's a Gift back to blogging which has been good to me
I just wanted a place where bloggers feel welcome regardless of status, income, race etc
I didn't call it Blogger LUV for nothing ๐Ÿ™‚
    Thanks for all your support
PS I have given myself till Christmas to make it the BEST Blogger destination on this PLANET ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Nile for sharing blog specific community sites. I did only know about Digg but rest of the sites are added benefit to me. This looks very useful and will definitely help to get in touch with many other niche bloggers.
