SEO Is Not Dying

By Nile Flores 101 Comments

Optimizing your site is definitely a necessity, but overdoing it will hurt your site. All this talk on SEO dying is hogwash. If it were, then there would be no search engines. SEO is not dying.

The issue that some people are hurt over is the fact that they actually have to write great content AND engage with others out on the social networks. Come on, this should have been a no brainer a long time ago. If you have gone shopping, been a business owner of a store, or actually have worked in the retail or service industry, it takes engagement.

It works the same online. People could care less about who you are unless you show them that you care about what they want to know. This still applies even in the case that you are a blogger who makes money off of advertising, sponsored reviews, and such. You still have to connect with others, and share your articles on the social networks as well as others. Its a give and take relationship… I know, such a cliché, but it is true.

You want people to trust you, right? You want to build an authority in your niche? You want to make money, right? (At least for those reading this and are building a business with their site.)

Then you know what you need to do – get social! It is a necessary investment.

I try to share all my articles on social networks, with good results indeed, but it takes a lot of time. I would prefer to use this time for writing more articles, but I guess this is the way things go nowadays. On the other hand, I’m not afraid of being penalized by Google for over-optimization, as I think that only the users of black techniques will be affected by the update.

First and foremost, I like the content of your Article. SEO will never die and will always become useful on increasing your Page Rank. Google Panda 2.2 needs quality link building that are more focused in contents had been implemented.

Thus, you need to properly manage your SEO techniques in order to stay updated with the latest trends.

What a refreshing post. So much misinformation floating around about Google’s next algorithm update it’s ridiculous. I have to admit, I am a little nervous about it, but i’ve been analyzing my competitors a bit and my social media and site content is light years beyond theirs. So I hope I make it through unscathed. 😀

It’s so true people go to the extremes of spectrums so often. They over optimize and use no real content and then when it doesn’t work they say that SEO is dying. Or they don’t use any social networking or SEO and say that they can’t get any of their information out to the people.

Hi, thank you very much for the post!

I think SEO will live as long as we need search engine. May be next 10 year, google is not the most popular search engine (like Yahoo did last century), but another search engine will show up, and we still need SEO for that.

In short term, I read that Google is going to punish websites that doing SEO too much. So I think white hat SEO is always better than black hat SEO.

    Good thought provoking point, Nile.

For what it is worth, consistent new content is required for good ranking. Social networks provide good backlilnks, another essential, plus traffic.

I can vouch for genuine comments. They really help your standing with Google.

I for one hope that Google can stamp out the link farms that come up on many searches and leave those of us with real content alone. I saw one of my keywords lose ranking, and adding a keyword optimized article and syndicating it, did the trick.

I would suggest that legitimate SEO with good content still works and will continue to.

There are many SEO companies and advisers that are selling books, seminars, and other education programs. They often use techniques to try to raise the Google ranking of a website without providing better content on their site. Google doesn’t like this – when somebody searches for a topic, they want their search engine to return the website with the best content, not a website that uses tricks that make it seem more important than it really is.

One of the things that can make or break your social media profile, is whether you are a giver or a taker.

If anything the changes in the standards for websites and what Google is holding webmasters to enables SEO firms and individual professionals to charge more money and appear to the public at large as more legitimate. Spammy tactics and automated work is dying. Next will be poor quality outsourcing. Look out for Facebook to get in on the search engine business as well as Twitter. This will further their work. It is just growing and changing, not dying. Who knows, search engines may no longer be the power for a source of traffic, social media might end up being it. The term SEO may change completely.

Just remember one thing, Google is always against the marketeer. How is it possible that a site with very few backlinks, no blog, no forum can rank higher than a site with 1000’s of relevant backlinks. If anybody knew surely they could promise a client a high ranking site……….The truth is nobody knows or has it just come saturated with the same old article submissions, social bookmarking, social network sites, off page optimisation, on page optimisation maybe it time to look at a different prospective……………

Definitely SEO is not dying and will not die. Infect black hat or spamming methods of SEO are dying and near in future will finish because after back to back update of google algorithms black-hat techniques are near to complete destroy. You are absolutely right that every website need SEO because without SEO nobody can get good traffic as well as business from traffic. There is more need to make a comprehensive and effective strategy for SEO campaign.

its true we can publish our content through social media but this process is time consuming to get the page rank and site traffic. SEO has all the tools and techniques which helps in increasing the page rank of any site but it also true that using much techniques of SEO leads spamming which will be a -ve impact for our site. the proper use of seo will keep it alive always.

This is an awesome, simple, much-desired article explaining about what penguin and panda did and what actions SEOs and site owners should take to adapt. There are tons of articles about what happened, but few about how to overcome it. Tremendous value has been added to me, and your
site has earned itself as one of my daily resources as I continue building our sites. Thanks!!

I have been trying to form good links in different ways but nothing worked out for me. I know you are an Expert in SEO. I have one question on what are the disadvantages I will face if I enable dofollow comments on my blog?
    Nice Information

Well, if you let everyone be dofollow, it sets your site off balance in SEO. You need a good balance of both nofollow and dofollow.

Seo will never die it will just evolve as we have to to keep up with what is working at a specific time. And working out what won’t hurt us later on. Lee
