Blogging does not have to be something only talented writers and journalists can do. Blogging is suppose to be whatever the focus of the site is about, whether technology, mommy blogging, social media, or other topics. There are so many genres in the blogging world. I recently read a short article titled Why Blog? at Sugar Filled Emotions and was motivated to write a response of my own.
Blogging should never be a chore. You write what you want and when you want to. I still see sites where people post that they are hiatus from their blog. This is just not acceptable, especially since there are so many days a month and even two entries is not really time consuming. Leaving a site to basically collect dust allows visitors to grow bored of waiting. Why bother having a site if you cannot update it?
Blog about what you know. Like authors writing a novel, it is hard to write about something you have no knowledge or experience. Of course you can slink articles through that show your lack of experience, but to those in your niche that have more experience, you will only look foolish.
Blog because you are passionate about the topic. How can you motivate your readers to return if your site has nothing of value? You can write about anything, but if you cannot connect with your readers through your passion is lacking.
Blog with confidence. It takes guts to put your own words out there for others to read. You will receive both negative and positive comments. Sometimes the negative comments, you have to deal with diplomatically. However, never let it become a hindrance to your blogging.
Blog knowing that you might help or influence another. Some people are looking to answers to their own situations. Your own experience that you share in your posts may help another.
For some, blogging might be an art, but it really is just a way to share your thoughts with others.
What reasons do you have to blog?

I blog for many reasons.
1. Because I feel that self-expression and artistic creation is vital to our overall quality of life. Creation, no matter what form (music, art, fashion, writing) is vital to our development, both as people. I think it's a shame that we so easily give it up as we move towards adulthood.
2. Because it allows me to connect with others. It's irrelevant whether we agree or disagree. Under normal circumstances, I'd never see, hear, or talk to these "strangers" otherwise. And that sense of community and connection is really powerful. Especially in this day and age.
3. Because it gets me excited about reading. Reading other blogs makes me want to read other articles, which makes me want to read other books, etc…
Great topic Nile!

These are all great reasons, definitely. Inspiration is always a great motivation. Connecting with others too and drawing the blogging community just a little bit closer is another I can agree with.

I blog because people piss me off and I type faster than I write. Seriously, I use it as an outlet to share my frustrations in a nice way. This allows me to practice my tact in writing which hopefully translates when I'm speaking.

lol. I have had a rant or two in my day. I am not sure if I can be frustrated, talk about what I am pissed off and try to be nice about it. *sighs* Your toleration must be higher than my own. lol

I started blogging to increase my online earning. I started to earn quite good amount from psExam.com through Google Adsense. This tempted me to start another – but not site this time – a blog. It will be easier. Because I had learned a lot of things about website creating, promoting, monetizing and SEO, the topic about blogging itself was what best suited for me right at the moment.
After I started my blog, I loved the idea. I felt it much more comfortable and engaging compared to my psExam site where all of the contents had to be hard earned. Don't get surprised, I've removed all the advertisements from my blog to improve it reader-friendly. I learned there are lot other ways to earn money than to disturb my readers.

I think it really is not the number of ads, but how you place them. If they are many and scattered all over the site, then it becomes a problem. Some of the things that do irk me are blogs that put ads in the middle of posts. I have to scroll more to read the rest. Probably the best place would have been at the end of the article, or before the article.

but blondishnet, putting that way anybody will hardly get any clicks and earn anything. Then, what's the use of uglyfying blog with the ads that earns nothing. If you put advertisements they MUST earn for you. Isn't it?

The problem is that I find that there are more effective places for ads. As a professional in the web design business, I know that a person's design can attract or deter people from your site just as much as the content. This includes ads. Making money is fine, but finding the best place for ad placement is probably something the site owner should juggle around to see where it might be the most accepted. Sometimes issuing a site survey might work. I actually plan to sometime next month after I finish the revamp of Blondish.net.
It is important to find a good balance between the two. And if a person is offering content solely to make money, then it just might become obvious to the readers too. Ads will not drive in the traffic. Bring the people in before considering a monetization plan. Without traffic, why bother having ads?

Hi Niles- nice to meet you 🙂 I posted tonight on my blog why I do it…I was inspired both by Sugar Filled Emotions and what I read here. I can't buzz about this on seededbuzz.com because, well, the site seems a little haywire tonight and the page kept loading and loading…but I wanted you to know!

There are different priorities of different bloggers for blogging and as far as i think very few bloggers give attention to these priorities. It may be possible that for some blogging could be hobby but there is a group for which blogging would be become the best monetizing tool.
