I came across an infographic tool called Piktochart. This was after doing my podcast on Infographics and my Infographic on Infographics. This is a tool for those who want to make infographics, but are not able to create their own graphics. This service is also useful for those who want to create infographics on the fly.
You can sign up and create some infographics for free, but there is a limit to what kinds of templates you have access to. The great thing is that you can do it yourself and without having to pay another person.
So, in order to create an infographic on Piktochart, you just click on a template you like and it will open to their editor application.
(To view images below, right click to open in a new tab or window.)
Another great thing with the templates are that even with their Pro level (premium) infographics, they are based on clean, and legible formats. There are some for light and funny or for something more professional.
Each area of the infographic can be customized. The only issue I found was finding out how to edit the text. I ended up removing the original template’s text blocks and then going to the text section to drag and drop in a new text areas. So, definitely before you dive into making your own infographics with Piktochart, you should probably go through their tutorial tour and maybe play around to get a hang of using the service.
In order to sign up, you can do so by signing up with Facebook of Google Plus, or by email. As mentioned earlier, there is a free account, but the template options are limited. Upgrading to a Pro account makes more templates available.
Have you tried Piktochart? How do you make your own infographics?

I quite like the sound of this, there are quite a few websites out there that allow you to make infographics, 9 times out of 10 I usually go for some pre-made ones that look interesting, but this does sound good. I’ll have to give it a little test run myself 😉

I was playing around with the software and I love it. Now I just need to do more research to create some good graphics. Do you have a screen shot of some of the premium templates?
Nile says
I don’t have a premium account, but if you scroll on the dashboard of Piktochart, you will see what styles they have to offer from the thumbnails there.

I tried piktochart a couple of times. I thought the interface was relatively easy to work with for somebody like myself who is graphically challenged but I couldn’t get the infographic off the website to my own without seriously degrading the quality of the picture or paying them. I don’t feel a strong need for infographics on my website–yet–to pick a paid option. I probably did something wrong trying to save the image from the free interface and should give them another shot.

Piktochart is nice, but there are some issues and you brought up another that I can lop it in with the fact that they need to develop a little bit further to become more user-friendly.
