How To Use the Automatic Update When Upgrading WordPress

By Nile Flores 22 Comments

For newbies, using WordPress might be a little hard to learn. Even though WordPress makes it easy for users to upgrade their software, sometimes it can be scary. And yes, even scary just for clicking the button to automatically upgrade.

No worries now! Below is a video screencast on how to use the automatic update with upgrading WordPress. As a note, it is important that you keep your WordPress install up-to-date so it stays as secure as possible. It is also important that when you do upgrade, that you have a backup of your website. This is for those times that maybe your host is having issues or the upgrade somehow failed.

Well this is a good post though but the problem I am getting is when I click on upgrade automatically then this shows upgrade failed then what should I do and why this happens. Is it because of the theme or something else??

Hi Sam! If you are getting a failure notice, and even if you have to put your FTP information in, it might be your host. You may need to manually upgrade your WordPress and there is a simple tutorial that is not had to follow.

    Hi Nile,
Actually I never upgrade automatically wordpress, there are many possibilities that some plugins will not work with the new version each time so usually I wait 1-2 weeks in order to be sure that all the plugins I use are compatible with the latest version and only then I upgrade it. I really hate it when a site crush and need to do all the work thru FTP to search for the plugins that cause these problems so I prefer to wait first…
