How To Prevent Others From Tagging You In Facebook

By Nile Flores 49 Comments

I discussed in another post Facebook Tagging Etiquette and decided to put together a screencast as a followup for those wanting to prevent others from tagging them.

The awesome thing is that you can customize who can and cannot tag you, so if you have that one or two tag-a-holic friend, then perhaps this screencast will help you. Hopefully this will eliminate those annoying posts you really do not want to see in your stream from a friend who did not get the message first that you did not want to be included in their tagging party.

A really handy video, thanks for sharing Nile (I’d missed your previous post). I often get tagged in lovely photos of half naked women (!) and cute animals and I’d rather not be tagged in them. Tagging has become the new spam.

Getting spammed on Facebook with tags to photos that I am not is not fun. Then you get 10 emails when people comment on the photo that you are not in. Seems like the custom list is the way to go as there are some people that legitimately do tag photos of me.

You solved a big, big problem. I was so desperate about being tagged in so many inappropriate photos that I couldn’t even think I might get rid of it so easily. But since I’m an almost regular visitor of a “sassy” blogger’s blog, so everything’s fine now! 😉
    Keep smiling!

This is something a lot of people (me included) are very happy to learn!

As cool as FB is their customer support system is just not very good and you don’t seem to ever really be in control of your profile.

Like when they changed everything to ‘Timeline’.

I can’t quite keep up with all these social networking sites and I have struggled to stop myself from being tagged in pictures, there’s nothing more annoying then being tagged in a picture that is of someone who is trying to promote their business or inviting you to an event! Great post, really straight forward too! Thank you for sharing.
