How to Get Support for Your WordPress Site

By Nile Flores 38 Comments

wordpress-support-200x200Eventually every WordPress user encounters some type of issue at some point. WordPress is easy to find, free to download, and free to use, but not always easy to learn or troubleshoot for everyone. Each individual learns and uses at their own pace, and often, depending on how they learned to use WordPress, their method may not be the same. So, how can you get support for your WordPress site?

How to Get Support for your WordPress Site

The WordPress community itself is pretty large. While WordPress.org has a support forum, and an awesome wiki called the Codex, some people need more help.

You can find support for your WordPress site on several social networks. Please note that the list below is a pick that I believe add a lot of value. You are more than welcome to comment below on what other communities are adding value. I will review them as I’m more than happy to edit this list, but I’m not here to list umpteen million groups that do the same exact thing. Believe me, there are tons of places online that are dedicated to WordPress help.

There are so many communities, even broken down to focus on specific plugins, and themes too!

Facebook

All About WordPress
Advanced WordPress
WordPress for Business
WordPress Help and Share

Google+

WordPress community on Google+ – This large community of around 50,000 members caters to most areas of WordPress for Google+ users.

Other

WordPress Development at Stack Exchange
WordPress tag at Stack Overflow
WPQuestions – This site allows you to ask questions and get them solved quickly, but for money. Members at WPQuestions leave their answers, and the one that works, you can reward them with cash.

This list could grow in the future, so stay tune. Also, as said earlier, you’re welcome to suggest more to this list. I will definitely consider them, but they MUST add value to the WordPress community, and must not be riddled with self-linking and spam.

If you join any of the places listed above, please remember to read their rules. Some of them are a little more strict about what can be shared. Some are focused on advanced topics or specific topics. The majority of these places do have rules, so it’s important to be aware of them before participating.

Where do you seek support for your WordPress site?

It’s great how all these communities have been set up. The main wordpress community is just way too large to be of help a lot of the time. Smaller communities always work better, and that way, people grow to trust and respect those who are helping them.

Thanks for the resource list Nile!

I had no idea you could get so specific with your WordPress questions.
It’s almost as if, they have specific groups just for specific issues that involve WordPress.

This is really good to know, going forward.

Because I’m still constantly learning more and more about the WordPress platform, whether I
    really want to or not!LOL!

Hi Vipul! WPQuestions is not free. Some of the other places mentioned in this article do allow you to ask your questions. However, don’t expect them to answer everything for free, especially if you need them to take a look and spend time solving you problem.

It is pretty good to have all the links sorted at one place. Things become irritating at the moment of breakdown of a website. In the long run of my career, I have witnessed several cases where WordPress acted really badly to the situation. At that moment, Googling to fix the issue becomes really irritating and time consuming.

    Hello Nile,

Excellent share, I think WordPress forum is enough to get any kind of support. The community is highly active. The forum itself cover most of the issues arise with WordPress and its fix. Stack Exchange and Stack Overflow also have many topics but some are not solved.
