Like the speed of technology, and also, because of technology, information travels fast and evolves. The key to lasting as a blogger is to stay on top of that knowledge.
You will have to take time to read from other places. Even top bloggers and professionals in their industry have to remain aware of the changes going on. While my father is not a blogger, as a Physician’s Assistant, he is always reading medical journals, and always have to stay on top of information in the medical field. It is a requirement for him to take regular training to keep up-to-date and qualify to continue to be licensed as a medical professional.
Bloggers too, must keep on top of their own niche. It may not be a position that has legal requirements to keep up-to-date, but it certainly helps keep you from being out of the loop, and becoming less of an authority in your niche.
I’ve observed a lot of bloggers, and while there are traits for successful bloggers, I don’t see many people talking about the key to lasting as a blogger. Instead, I see great bloggers slowly fade away, while newer ones take up the reigns, and then follow the same exact path as the previous successful bloggers.
I get it. Maybe it’s due to changing interests, or stress, or blogger burnout. For those who want to make a long lasting career as a blogger, the most important piece of advice I can give you, is to keep seeking out knowledge.
I’ve gone and made a graphic to illustrate what I’ve said, in not so many words. Please save it, and share it. I hope if you’re a blogger, this reminds you that you have to have the desire to seek out more knowledge in order to grow, and keep lasting as a blogger.

Great points Nile!
But fortunately, no matter how you ultimately slice it,
the wheat will ultimately be separated from the chaff!
And the real long term bloggers will evolve and grow and the rest,
for whatever reasons, simply will not!And that’s fair!LOL!
Great post & thanks for sharing it!

I totally agree with this, I think it’s imperative to keep on top of your game and continue to educate yourself. Everything changes so fast you’ve got to keep your eye on the ball and no one knows everything!

Great tips. Seriously speaking, it one thing to start a blog, it is another thing to make it a success.
The rate at which new blogs are created is also the rate blogs are being abandoned.
Thanks for sharing those strategies.

Nile you have kept is so simple!
Much can be learned by weathering the storm, per say. We have to realize that it takes time to develop a following. That is, of people who desire to interact and learn. Just as well as to teach. It works both ways.
May all find the knowledge this article shares. Keep reading and learn what you like or love about blogging. It is a way to share your passion. That is how simple blogging is. Some can not find what they are passionate about?

I like the color and fonts on this page. Very clean.
Blogging sure has changed since 1982 when I was the first viral blogger at a whole 300 baud. Quickly I realized the most successful blogging was controversial. We did all sorts of fun things like tele-trials, rag wars, etc. Different times… I didn’t think of myself as the original blogger until a few years ago when I wrote Modem Stud based upon my experiences 30 years earlier. Blogging did not start on the internet. It started on dial-in systems.
I told my son I was the original blogger and he didn’t believe me. I did an 80s trivia quiz that got about 200 likes and shares an hour over a holiday weekend to show him I still had it in me!

Yes.. absolutely. Nowadays technology has grown and no blog can survive in the struggle for existance without using multimedia content.
Canva.com is a great tool for doing this.
Neil, your posts teach great principles, keep it up !
