Graphic: SEO Is Not A Game

By Nile Flores 44 Comments

I’ve said that SEO is not a same, many times. It really isn’t. If you know how to write unique and quality content, and engage with your readers, you’re definitely heading in the right direction.

A lot of people like to whine about why their website has either dropped in traffic or has dropped from good search results. All the answers to that can be found in whatever game they tried to play in order to get ahead. Google isn’t out to get you. They are trying to make sure the search alogrithms are as close to what a person may search for.

This is the reason you will keep reading and hearing from SEO experts that you should write for humans or strive to hae a more organic strategy when it comes to search engine optimization.

So… stop trying to game the system.

I agree that providing unique and quality content, and engaging with the readers should be the main goal in writing a blog.

As a realtor servicing Charleston SC real estate I normally write about updates, news, and trends happening in Charleston area as well as the real estate industry as a whole.

I share not only showing properties but also events/activities in the said areas as well as answering my visitors queries about real estate related topics. I also encourage my visitors to share their own experiences about a particular subject discussed in my blog post. This fuels fruitful conversation and foster engagement.

People go online not only to communicate but also to learn or find answers to their questions. By providing useful information, youโ€™re creating a positive impression to your audience, and sooner or later, you become a trusted authority in the business. SEO will follow afterwards.

It really can’t get simpler, can it. I see so many articles and posts about how to outwit Google and play the SEO game. Everyone knows you can’t, but they keep trying anyway. I agree with you that Google isn’t out to get us, and is only trying to make things more natural and organic. It all comes down to unique content, offering value, and building relationships.

I completely agree. I think everyone wants to cut corners and be ranked in the top ten right off the bat. Logically, that doesn’t make sense. An entry level employee at a company isn’t going to be the CEO in a week. Quality content rules!

In my opinion, to really make it with SEO, one needs to stop trying to find for quick and easy ways to boost his/her websites rankings, but concentrate on attracting visitors and links naturally. Otherwise you are just building a ship that is fated to sink.

Simple but to the point. Yes SEO is not a game and donot even try to game Google. Google is now smarter than ever. If you want good, steady and stable results on SERP then you have to be ethical, patient and consistent.
Write quality articles for your targeted audience on your niche more frequently. Content marketing will surely boost your ranking for different keywords over time.
Optimize your site ethically and optimally for better results. Use Rich Snippet to generate better CTR. Always Call to Action on your content on every page.
Build links slowly, ethically and consistently. Do not got trapped on link buying or spamming. Get different types of links. dofollow – nofollow, all domain links (.com, .edu, .org, .gov, .net, .in, infor etc), article – directory – commenting – bookmarking – question & answer links etc.
If you do all these naturally, then you are bound to rise on SERP.

Totally agree with you on that one! I remember – back in the day – writing every single blog article JUST for Google, and not necessarily for my readers. It’s all about social engagement these days. I think the combo of blogging + social media engagement/advertising is a surefire way to get more eyeballs on your brand.

Nile, great post! ‘Engagement’ is the all-too-easily forgotten word, here. I always liken it to your favorite magazine article writer. How many times would you have liked to comment on his or her weekly article? That is because (like you), they inspire you to have a feeling strong enough to write about it yourself, and pass it on.

All writers can inspire these feelings, if their writing pushes the wright buttons. Don;t go out to get SEO points, write to make friends and engage them.

SEO is a technique or a way to create good content on a web site in the form of pages and posts that real people want to read, which satisfies the query and can be found by a search engine. It improves the site visibility in result page.

SEO is about engaging with humans, not trying to “game the system” with the big search engines. Focus on delivering quality, value-packed articles, and you’ll be on a much safer path than playing “the game” of SEO..

Thanks for sharing some significant tips regarding SEO. I totally agree with you that SEO is not a game. But when one can do it under the prescribed guidelines of Google then we feel more convenient to deal with SEO and treat like a game ๐Ÿ™‚

All we need to do is understand what is SEO and how it works, what are the legal techniques and what are illegal techniques in SEO.
