Graphic: Blogging Is Not A Glamorous Job

By Nile Flores 75 Comments

Blogging seems to be something people think might be cool, but really… blogging is NOT a glamorous job. To become successful, it takes a lot of work.

Just some of the work involves:

  • Many hours of writing posts.
  • Many hours of reading and researching.
  • Many hours to engage with other bloggers, as well as your readers, followers, and maybe even clientele.
  • Many hours contacting potential sponsors or advertisers in order to bring in revenue.

I put together a graphic on this because I want people to know that blogging is not a get rich quick and cut corners kind of job. Blogging takes dedication and passion to stay up in the wee hours of the morning to pump out that next post.

    Hi Nile
Okey…it seem that lots of exclamation mark on your post..!!!!

Many hours of writing posts !

There are mainly two ways from which you can share your thought and experience with others, i.e. verbal and second one is via text. Thats the reason why we are spending hours while writing for others.

Many hours of reading and researching !

Why not..? If i found thousands of information and valuable experience of others on my PC which may improve my website utility. Actually it is the chipest way to know. About researching..! its human nature.

Many hours to engage with other bloggers, as well as your readers, followers, and maybe even clientele !

If you did above two, you need not to taking care about your followers and readers because your work keep engage them automatically.

Many hours contacting potential sponsors or advertisers in order to bring in revenue !

Why are we not think like that, potential sponsors or whatever it is contact us and we have options to choose among them and what about those bloggers who make great revenue.

    Thanks for sharing…Keep BLOGGING

It depends on the kind of blogger and how much you enjoy it. If you’re a photoblogger that could be fun, but that isn’t to say there isn’t work in it!

Blogging to me on my first experience was rather tedious due to it lengthy work but not anymore because i transformed it into passion. The reason for this was discovering my niche who always leave constructive comments and this inspired me. My advice is concentrate on a particular area and do your research.

Yup, no doubt about it, there’s a lot more work to blogging than most people realise. But, personally, I also get a lot out of it from everything I’ve learned, the people I’ve met, and how much I’ve grown over the couple of years since I started.

Certainly, if someone is into blogging for the money only, and right away, s/he will quickly lose heart. I have grown to love blogging because a) it helps me learn and crystallize my learning b) it connects me with great people in my niche/s who I would not otherwise meed c) it opens up opportunities in the marketplace, and d) every blog post I write becomes a source of evergreen passive income in the long run, if I write epic content 🙂

I think one of the greatest misnomers about blogging is the “if you build it, they will come” mentality that a lot of newbies have. I’ll admit it, I even thought that when I first got started. Heck with everyone on the net how could it be that hard right? Wrong!! There are so many different nuances and expectations that you need to have a grasp on in order to be successful. Its actually a lot of work. Not only to get a good base audience, but to keep them as well.

For sure, no otehr way to put it, a lot more work going on into blogging than most people truly can understand unless they themselves get deeply involveda nd want to do a great job or in yoru case, earn a living.

Personally, I get a lot out of writing, perhapos is because I love it, so I do not take it as hard work, but I also must say that I recognize otehrs who work a lot hardr than me and take it more seriously than me, but in some ways I se them unhappy.. I just pray that thei see the light, and cpome out winners in their choisen field.

It’s a fine line between encouraging someone who *should* be blogging, and cautioning those who maybe shouldn’t be blogging but are gung ho to get started because they think it will be a breeze.

Yes, blogging is hard work. I am a network marketer, not an internet marketer, yet I still need certain things in place, along with consistency in writing — which is a huge challenge these days.

Blogging is anything but glamorous! There are so many parts to it. Researching, writing from what you have just learned, or just plain writing from your heart.

It has to have a point, and a also, most importantly, a message to those who are your readers. Our blogs are our home base and needs to be in order and consistent.

I agree with you to a point. It’s hard work but isn’t everything in life? It always looks greener on the other side, but I promise you it isn’t. You have the freedom that many in a day job lack and to be honest with your, your site’s successful.

I have the freedom of running two businesses and yes, both require a lot of time and hard work for which I see little overall improvement in either business. Blogging is a long hard slog, not an overnight success. Like any other business, it takes time to build and needs continual attention.

I also think that people jump in without researching what they intend to blog about simply because, as you put it, they think it’s going to be an overnight success. I’ve been developing and running the same sites for years (one is in it’s second decade) and they’ve taken time and determination. However, I’ve been running businesses for a decade and the one thing I’ve learnt is that you need to pace yourself and stay both interested and focussed. If you lack either, you should look for something else to do.

However, I never write because I have to but I do so because I choose to.
To me success is a journey and not a destination. It’s about enjoying the ride.

Nile, You are so right about blogging! It takes lots of hard work, dedication, time, and passion to make a blog successful. It’s not something that happens overnight and you have to really be willing to do what it takes to make it a success. Thanks for the infographic and post!

Thanks for the much needed reality check Nile!

Yea, you always here about the “so called” glamorous side of blogging!

And then those wild eyed green as grass newbies (and get rich clickers) rush in, only to find, it’s no
    picnic!

And within three short months or sooner they abandon ship and move on to the next supposedly
easy “push button” system approach to creating online success!

Thanks for shedding some much needed light on a little lost art called the “truth!”
