I’m extremely excited to announce that my Facebook group, All About WordPress has surpassed 5,000 members. We started in December of 2012, when I got a bit overwhelmed with being private messaged by people on their WordPress questions. I felt at that point that a group would be a better plan as not only could I answer the questions, but:
- Other people could participate in answerin questions
- Other people could see the answers
I have to say that the group would have been larger twice over, but we’ve done a lot of banning of people who could follow our strict rules of not spamming, no selling, and the fact that we only allowed self-linking once a week.
It’s important that while the group is by no means the official WordPress Support forums, that our group allows value to the community while staying focused while retaining some integrity. We’ve had people disgruntled over that, but it is what it is.
As a celebration for the event, the group is holding a giveaway. Some really generous and awesome people have jumped in and offered some prizes, so I’ll get into the fun part.
All About WordPress- 5K Member Celebration Giveaway
When does it end and begin?: Starts September 6, 2014 at 12AM Pacific Standard USA time and Ends September 15, 2014 at 11:59PM Pacific Standard USA time. Click here for the OFFICIAL giveaway announcement over on All About WordPress.
Requirements:
1. You MUST be a member of All About WordPress on Facebook.
2. You MUST share the group with your Facebook friends/ followers to earn at least 1 entry. (You MUST comment on the 5K Member Celebration Giveaway announcement thread that you are interested in participating and put in the link to the post you shared to your friends.)
Optional:
3. If you want to earn 3 more entries, you will need to blog about the event. In your post, your MUST link to the group and the sponsors of the giveaway. Once you have, comment in the thread again so we can use it to verify.
How are winners determined? We assign each verified entrant with a number and pick who wins using Random.org.
4. If you tweet, +1, and share on LinkedIn, the post for this giveaway post at Blondish.net you can earn 1 more entry!

Congratulations Nile, that’s a HUGE group to manage. This kind of group is badly needed for WordPress, as you know (some of your readers might not know:-) The forums can be useful, but most of the time, it’s so hard to get a decent answer – I haven’t been there for a few years, but that’s what it used to be like.
